Why Dodamarg is an upcoming investment destination?

Jul 29, 2019

Sindhudurg, the name that literally means ‘Sea Fort’ and derived from the famous landmark built by the legendary Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is situated in the southern part of the state of Maharashtra, India. Sindhudurg district is surrounded by the Arabian Sea on its eastern side, Belgaum district of Karnataka and Goa on its southern borders and Ratnagiri District (famous for Alphonso Mangoes) on its northern boundaries.

Blessed with an abundance of lush green forests & natural beauty, a scenic coast line, picturesque mountains, and moderate climate, Sindhudurg has been rapidly gaining fame as a prime tourist destination that offers beautiful natural sights, famous landmarks, gorgeous beaches and a whole lot of adventurous activities.

Some of the must do things in Sindhudurg:

Authentic Village Life: Tourists can get a taste of warm Konkani hospitality and village life by staying in red stone houses with sloping roofs, a Konkan specialty, while getting a taste of authentic Malvani cuisine full of mouthwatering coconut and fish dishes. In addition, tourists can also indulge in tropical fruits such as Alphonso mangoes, cashews, Jamuns etc.

Beaches & Outdoor Adventures Sindhudurg, boasting a beautiful coastline, is extremely well known for its almost untouched, pristine beaches. The beaches (far less crowded than those in Goa) in Malvan, Tarkarli, Devbagh, Tondavli, and Vengurla etc. attract hundreds of tourists every year to enjoy the mesmerizing sunsets, white sands, clear waters, awesome seafood, as well as water adventures. The beaches offer a variety of water sports and adventures including Jet Skiing, Parasailing, Scuba diving, Snorkeling and more.

Famous Landmarks & Temples: The most well-known landmark in Sindhudurg is of course the Sindhudurg Fort (from where the district gets its name). This historical sea fort was built by Chhatrapati Shivaji in 1664 and played a key part in his naval defense. Designed by Hirojee Indulkar, this historic fort is located in the middle of the sea in Malvan and is a must see for its engineering brilliance. In addition to the sea fort, Sawantwadi Palace, Tilari Dam are also major tourist destinations. If you have kids, then a visit to buy the famous wooden toys of Sawantwadi is a must.  Konkan is known to be the land of temples and Sindhudurg is blessed with many such sacred sites such as Kunkeshwar temple, Jai Ganesh temple, Rameshwar temple and more.

Wildlife & Nature: With a lush forest cover, Sindhudurg is known to be a suitable habitat for wild life including leopards, wild cats, and more. Amboli hill station boasts a lot of bio diversity as well as the famous Amboli waterfalls.

Development in Sindhudurg

Over the past few years Sindhudurg has witnessed large scale progress with the government pushing development plans for Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri

with the object of further boosting tourism in the Konkan region.

Plans are on to start a fishing centre and a horticulture cargo hub in Sindhudurg, while the MIDC would acquire submarines for ?65 crore to launch adventure tourism.

Expansion in the educational sector with proposed centers for premium higher education, IT parks and other facilities, in addition to OROS, the only fully planned city in Konkan, and wide ranging connectivity to major metros will further push development resulting in varied investment opportunities in the region.

Sindhudurg is well connected by road via the NH-17, by train via the Konkan railway and by air via the newest airport at Chipi-Parule, which will soon start commercial flights making it the first Konkan airport on the country’s air map.

Dodamarg an upcoming investment destination

With Sindhudurg district on a fast-track to development, certain regions in the district have especially attracted investors. One such location is Dodamarg.  A hilly, scenic region, Dodamarg is the smallest taluka in the Sindhudurg district but has become a favored investment destination as it has been declared as a Tourism Development Zone by the Government of Maharashtra and also due to its proximity to north of Goa.

Although currently at an affordable range, land and property rates are expected to appreciate favorably giving attractive returns on investments. This is due to the wide ranging projects and schemes being undertaken in the area. These developmental schemes have boosted the tourism industry with many resorts, hotels, villas dotting the landscape.

If you are looking to buy a property in Goa or at least near it, Dodamarg presents a great investment opportunity. One such project that has caught the eye of buyers is Axis Blues Goa. A project of service apartments with a wide range of amenities, it is one of the largest residential complexes being developed in the area. It affords investors a smart option of purchasing a sophisticated property in Goa with great returns on investment via assured monthly rentals.
